FREE Rapid HIV Testing and STI Testing in Phoenix
If you’re sexually active or hooking up with multiple partners, make sure you get tested for HIV regularly (every 3, 6 or 12 months depending on your activity)! Getting tested for HIV is as easy as a simple finger-prick and 20 minutes of your day.
The IGNITE Crew brings FREE Rapid HIV Testing to the Phoenix LGBTQ Community several times a month with our outreach testing program. FREE HIV Testing and STI Testing (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis) is also available Monday through Friday at Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS.
The Testing Process
FREE Rapid HIV Testing
Just a few drops of blood and 20 minutes will update your status!
We use the Alere Determine Rapid HIV 4th Generation Test that looks for the HIV Antigen and Antibody. Typically, if a person has become infected with HIV, either the Antigen or Antibody is detectable 2-4 weeks after your exposure. You’ll get the results together with your Testing Specialist in just 20 Minutes. Linkage to care services are also provided if your test is positive.
Getting your HIV Test Results
If your test is negative, the Testing Specialist will offer you free condoms, free lube, referrals for PrEP, referrals for Behavioral Health Programs and/or referrals to Intervention Programs if you need them to help you stay negative. If your test is positive, you won’t be alone. The Testing Specialist will work with you to ensure you’re linked to medical, financial, behavioral and support services to support you while you navigate into medical and supportive care.
FREE STI Testing – Syphilis, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
Did you know a person with Syphilis is 5 times more likely to contract HIV if exposed to it? Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) play a major role in HIV transmission – and the best part about it is they’re completely treatable. Getting tested and treated for STI’s like Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can significantly reduce your risk of becoming infected with HIV if you’re negative, or transmitting HIV if you’re positive.
Testing for Syphilis includes drawing a single tube of blood and sending it to a laboratory for testing. Results are typically available in 3-5 business days and FREE & low cost treatment is also available. Treatment typically consists of one or more shots of medication.
Chlamydia & Gonorrhea Testing
We’ll conduct free Chlamydia and Gonorrhea laboratory testing using just a little bit of urine and/or a self-administered rectal swab (depending if you’re a top, bottom or somewhere in-between). Results are typically available in 3-5 business days and FREE & low cost treatment is also available. Treatment typically consists of either an injection or oral antibiotics.

A note about Walk-In HIV/STI Testing hours:
Due to occasional rushes in demand for our walk-in HIV/STI testing, Southwest Center can’t guarantee every person arriving an hour prior to closing will be able to be tested. Feel free to call 602-307-5330 if you feel you may be arriving an hour or less before closing to ask about testing availability. The last test will be taken 30 minutes prior to closing.
